Hospital Bag

Let’s talk hospital bag. First and foremost, pack your bag ASAP. You don’t want to be like me and need to throw some items in your bag when you’re rushing to the hospital. Start packing earlier than you think since you have no idea when your twins will decide to arrive!

My diaper bag – or should I say bags- were huge. Based on what I saw people recommend packing online, I had three bags which is excessive in hindsight. I would recommend two: one for you and one for your partner.

What should you actually pack?

  1. Eye mask (an absolute MUST as there are always lights on)
  2. Shower shoes
  3. Toiletries
  4. Medications
  5. Clothes
  6. Reusable water bottle
  7. Charger
  8. Snacks
  9. Nice camera
  10. Nursing and/or pumping bra
  11. Loose clothes to wear home
  12. Any outfits you want your babies to wear for initial pictures and going home
  13. ID and insurance card

Things I didn’t need but you might want:

  1. After birth care such as pads, disposable underwear, peribottle, etc. The hospital gives you all these for free during your stay. You can save the things you buy for once you’re home.
  2. Hospital socks. I couldn’t reach my feet, still, in those initial days so slippers for the win!
  3. Robe. I lived in hospital gowns. I didn’t like clothes of my incision and the gown was nice and light.

Your partner should pack their own bag so they’re ready to go at any moment, as well. Their lacking is much simpler and should include:

  1. Charger
  2. Snacks (so they don’t take yours)
  3. Clothes and pajamas
  4. Toiletries
  5. Sleep mask
  6. Books or other calm entertainment
